Vacation 2010

August 7, 2010

This editing and adding stuff takes more time than I seem to have each day but, I'll continue adding content here as I can.

Tennessee was great.

It was cooler than Richmond and the and the view.... What can I say.

Trisha, Sophie and I went to Abingdon where Sophie proceeded to piss me off by being a spastic dog. I couldn't take photos or do most anything so our visit the was short.

We regrouped and went to Damascus where we walked around some more and worked on Sophies walking skills. A short trip down Route 58 and we shot a few photos including Trisha's Mushroom which is in the daily photo section.

The reunion was nice and as always there was plenty to eat. I'm working on posting the photos on the smug mug site so check there under the Vagabong Blue Gallery.

But I think it's safe to say this about summs up the visit to Shady Valley...

August 6, 2010

At exactly 11:45 today, I left the shop and and began Vacation 2010. I feels great. I headed home where Trisha met me. We gathered up Sophie and some stuff and hit the road.

Here we are, on the road heading to Abingdon.

I-81 is a cruddy drive. Between the trucks going slow then fast thing with the hills and the left lane lizards that never move over to the right, it's a wonder there are not more accidents on the road.

Trisha got really bored and decided to do some macrem'e.  What do you think?

Too bad it involved using my home made sun glasses lanyard.

We went over to the Longs house ( Aunts, Uncles and cousins of Trishas ) after we checked into the hotel. If you ever want to meet some good welcoming people, arrange to go to Shady Valley.

That's it. All the crap that I'm bringing to Tennessee.

I wonder, what else could I add to it for Rhode Island?

August 2, 2010

The countdown had begun. Monday a most dreaded day of the week to most marks five days until freedom. For me, this has been another year of lots of over time, going in early and dealing with the problems that happen at a marine shop. Just for starters, we had two boats this year that went under water in one form or another. Both required extensive repair and because they're Grady-Whites and Grady-White owners, everything has to be just right.

To sum it up, I'm tired. I've lost my pop for work. This vacation is much needed but I fear it will not be long enough.

So, the plan right now is to leave Richmond around Noon on Friday to head for Tennessee for the Blevins Family reunion. I'm really looking forward to going to Shady Valley again. This year I won't be bringing the Motorcycle because it's just really not enough time to use it. Trisha and I also want to just spend some time together and see some of the local area. I'm hoping to get the opportunity to take some good photos.

We'll be there for the the weekend and be back here on Sunday. A quick over night then on the road in the morning for Rhode Island.

It's gonna be a lot of driving.
